AED Information

The State of California passed AB1467, ‘Nevaeh Youth Sports Safety Act‘, which requires cardiac arrest training, published cardiac information to members, and certified AED responders to be on hand at all practices and games.  The state law takes effect 1/1/2027.  This bill works in conjunction with a new Health & Safety Code (HSC), which was passed in 2023.

Athletes, may have several different forms of heart issues:

                                       1. Arrhythmias

                                       2. Congenital Heart Defects

                                       3. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

If a player has one of the forms of heart issues, it is crucial that the coach is aware of the condition.  The coach must be aware of the symptoms that indicate heart problems happening, and what to do about them.  There may be a need also to create a training/playing regiment that is specifically tailored to an athlete with heart issues
